I have nowhere to park but the street. Is a coating a waste of money?
The opposite. A garaged car has a garage doing half the work. A street-parked car has nothing, so the coating is doing all of it. It will not last as long as it would on a covered car, which is exactly why the washing schedule matters more here.
What is the sticky film on my car every spring?
Oak pollen bound up with sap and dew. It is mildly acidic, it is gritty, and it is the single biggest cause of the fine scratching we see on cars from this district — because people wipe it off dry, which drags the grit across the paint.
Someone dinged my door. Do I have to correct the whole car?
No. Spot correction handles a single panel for $175 to $325. If the dent is deep enough to have gone through the paint, that is a body shop, and we will say so rather than take the booking.
My car is thirty years old. Will you work on it?
Yes, and a fair amount of what comes through the bay is older. The deciding factor is not age, it is whether there is enough clear coat left to correct safely. We measure it and tell you honestly when the answer is no.
Do you come to Avondale?
No. Film and coatings cannot be applied properly outdoors, and a mobile setup on a narrow street is the worst possible environment for either. Everything happens in the bay.
How bad is it really to use a drive-through wash?
On uncoated paint it is the main cause of swirl marks. On coated paint it is worse, because you are paying to have the protection scrubbed off. Touchless is survivable; brushes are not.
