Intracoastal West

A commuter belt with a coastline attached.

Cars here do real mileage on JTB, Kernan and 9A, and then park outside a house that is often still surrounded by construction. Three things do most of the damage.

Love bugs

Two seasons a year, and they are acidic

May and September, and they arrive in numbers on JTB and 9A specifically. Left on a hot front end they etch clear coat within a couple of days, and by then scrubbing them off does more harm than the bugs did. They need softening and lifting, not force — and a filmed or coated front end makes the whole problem trivial.

Construction dust

The cost of a new-build neighborhood

Large parts of Intracoastal West are still being built out. Fine grit and cement dust settle on cars parked anywhere near it, and that dust is genuinely abrasive — wiping a dusty car with a dry towel here is how a lot of the swirl marks we correct were actually created.

The commute

Highway miles with stone chips in them

JTB, Southside and the 9A ramps at highway speed are where paint chips come from. It is the front bumper, the hood leading edge and the mirrors every time, which is exactly the area paint protection film was designed to cover.

Getting here

You are probably already close.

The studio is on St Johns Bluff Road, north of JTB. From most of the neighborhood it is a single turn.

01

Head for St Johns Bluff Road

From Kernan, Hodges or the JTB corridor it is a few minutes in any direction. From the Queen’s Harbour side, come down Atlantic and turn south.

02

North of JTB, Building 400

The address is 576 St Johns Bluff Rd N, Suite 400. Look for the bay doors rather than a shopfront.

03

Straight into the bay

The car goes inside on arrival, which for a wash means you are not watching it dry and spot in a car park.

Being local has one practical advantage worth using: short jobs are easy to fit around a working day, and a membership wash is a twenty minute round trip rather than an afternoon. Mon–Fri 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, closed Sunday.

Questions from Intracoastal West

What the neighborhood asks.

If yours is not here, call the shop on 904-574-4339.

How close are you exactly?

The studio is at 576 St Johns Bluff Rd N #400, north of JTB — inside Intracoastal West rather than a drive from it. From most of the neighborhood it is under ten minutes.

Love bugs have already marked my paint. Is it too late?

Usually not. If they have etched the clear coat rather than gone through it, machine polishing lifts it. One or two panels is spot correction at $175 to $325 a panel. Getting them off within a day or two is what stops it happening again.

Is film worth it if I only drive JTB and back?

That is exactly where the chips come from. Highway speed on JTB and the 9A ramps does more to a front bumper than a long weekend drive does. A partial front in XPEL film starts at $1,500.

My house is next to a construction site. What can I do?

Do not dry-wipe the car — that dust is abrasive and wiping it is what creates swirls. Rinse or get it washed properly. A ceramic coating helps a lot, because the dust sits on the coating and rinses rather than bonding to paint.

Can I drop the car before work and collect it after?

For most single-day services, yes. We are open until 8pm Monday to Friday specifically so a car can go in early and be collected after work. Say so when you book and we will schedule it that way.

Do you do memberships for two cars?

The membership is household transferable, so you can bring whichever car needs it. If you want two vehicles covered independently, call and we will sort household pricing.
